Scriptmate is made by one person, and I read every message myself. Most questions have a quick answer below. For anything else, email me and include the details listed here so I can fix it in one round.
What to include
- Your iPhone model and iOS version.
- What you imported: PDF, photo or text, and the file itself if you can share it.
- What you expected and what happened instead.
- A screenshot or a screen recording, if there is one.
Common questions
My PDF will not import
For a long script, use the page picker and import only the scene you need. If the PDF is a scan without a text layer, import the pages as photos instead. Scripts in a language other than English, Spanish, French, German or Korean are not supported yet. If one file keeps failing, send it to me and I will look at the parse.
The photo import cannot read the page
Shoot the page flat and upright in good light, fill the frame, and keep the text sharp. The scanner reads printed text; handwriting is not supported.
The reader does not respond when I finish my line
Check that Scriptmate has microphone and speech recognition access in the iOS Settings. Make sure the script language matches what you are saying, speak the last words of your line clearly, and use headphones so the reader is not picked up by the microphone. In a noisy room, hold the phone closer. You can always tap the line to advance by hand.
Natural voices are not available on my phone
Natural voices currently cover English and Spanish scripts and need a one-time download of about 135 MB, best on Wi-Fi. They are switched on for the iOS versions we have verified, so on a brand new iOS they may wait for the next update. Other languages use the voices built into the iPhone.
How do I cancel or get a refund?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple: open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Cancelling keeps Pro until the end of the paid period, and cancelling during the trial means you are not charged. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
I paid but the app is still locked
Open Settings in the app and tap Restore, signed in with the Apple ID that made the purchase. If it still shows locked, email me the date of the purchase.
How do I delete my data?
Everything is on your phone, so deleting the app deletes your scripts, recordings and tapes. Copies of imported files on our servers expire within 7 days. To have a support email or a stored import deleted sooner, write to me.
Which languages does Scriptmate support?
The app, the parsing and the cue detection work in English, Spanish, French, German and Korean. Natural voices are available for English and Spanish scripts.
